Minority Fellows Announced; Applications Invited for Next Group

The following psychiatry residents have been selected to participate in the APA Minority Fellowships Program as APA/CMHS fellows (funded by the Center for Mental Health Services) or Zeneca Fellows (funded by Zeneca Pharmaceuticals).

The APA Minority Fellowship Program provides educational enrichment to psychiatrists in training and stimulates their interest in providing quality and effective services to minorities and the underserved. It is also designed to involve the resident fellows in psychiatry in the work of APA and to give APA the perspective of young psychiatrists.

Applications are now being sought for both fellowships. The CMHS fellows receive a government stipend and incur a payback obligation, whereas the AstraZeneca fellows do not receive stipends and, therefore, do not incur a payback obligation.

AstraZeneca fellows serve for two years. Residents must be at least a PGY-2 to apply or a PGY-5 for the substance abuse segment.

More information is available from Marilyn King, program coordinator, at (202) 682-6096; e-mail: mking@psych.org. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2000.
