Applicants Invited For New Award Honoring Jeanne Spurlock, M.D.
APA’s Minority Fellowships Program Selection and Advisory Committee invites nominations for the Jeanne M. Spurlock Minority Fellowship Achievement Award for 2001.
This award will be presented to an alumna or alumnus of the minority fellowships (APA/NIMH, APA/CMHS, or APA/AstraZeneca) who has made or is making a significant contribution to psychiatry and/or minority and underserved populations.
The purpose of this award is to recognize the outstanding achievements of former fellows of the minority fellowships. It also encourages continued involvement in the fellowship program. The award, which will be presented at the fellows’ reception at APA’s annual meeting in New Orleans in May 2001, includes a plaque. No lecture is required.
Nominations should include a brief letter describing significant contributions, including specific details regarding the candidate’s qualifications for the award, and a curriculum vita.
Nominations should be submitted to Patricia Ordorica, M.D., Chair, APA/CMHS Selection & Advisory Committee, APA/OMNA, 1000 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Va. 22209-3901.
The first award will be presented to Spurlock’s family at APA’s 2000 annual meeting in Chicago during the fellows’ reception.
