Support American Psychiatric Foundation While Enjoying New Nature Museum
Begin your visit to Chicago for APA’s 2000 annual meeting by enjoying an elegant cocktail reception and private showing of the latest exhibits at Chicago’s newest museum, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum of the Chicago Academy of Sciences.
The American Psychiatric Foundation, in conjunction with the American Psychiatric Association Alliance, will sponsor this special fundraising event on Saturday, May 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Proceeds benefit the education and research programs of the foundation and the alliance.
The Peggy Notebaert Museum, which opened last October, is located in the Lincoln Park section of Chicago, just minutes from downtown hotels. It features numerous nature exhibits including the renowned Butterfly Haven, a 2,700 square-foot glass atrium containing 20 species of butterflies native to Illinois and North America. In addition, the museum houses a wilderness walk with dioramas that bring to life the academy’s famous collection of rare plants and animals as well as a water lab with an interactive model of an urban river. Guests can stroll through the many exhibits or simply enjoy the beauty of the many gardens that surround the museum.
Plan to join the American Psychiatric Foundation and the APA Alliance in this entrancing setting while supporting psychiatric education and research. Bus transportation will be provided to and from the reception; details will follow in the next issue of Psychiatric News. A portion of the ticket price is tax deductible.
