MindGames Winners Have (Almost) All the Answers
WHODAS?
No, it’s not some new internet slang—it’s the abbreviation for the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule, and also the answer to the final question of the 2025 MindGames Live competition: “This standard method for assessing disability levels in psychiatric disorders replaced the Global Assessment of Functioning scale in DSM-5-TR.”
If you wouldn’t have guessed the answer to this, don’t feel bad. None of the three teams of residents competing in MindGames knew either. However, thanks to their overall knowledge in the previous rounds and a smart betting strategy, the team from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (Majid Hamidi, D.O., Victor Kekere, M.D., and Sercan Ture, D.O.) took home the prize.
The Zucker team beat out resident teams from SUNY Downstate University (Mitchell Bayne, M.D., M.P.H., Alexander Ortiz, M.D., and Amanda Wildstein, M.D.) and Penn State School of Medicine (John Garman, M.D., Dallas Hamlin, M.D., and Anil Kalyoncu, M.D.)
