Dance the Night Away at the 2025 APA Foundation Benefit

Did you know dancing is good for your mental health? The annual APA Foundation Benefit will be held tomorrow, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. PT. Join us for a night of dinner and entertainment to help realize the Foundation’s mission of a mentally healthy nation for all!

Meet us in the heart of LA at the GRAMMY Museum to connect with colleagues, take advantage of exclusive access to the museum exhibits, and enjoy catering by Michelin Star–winning chef Wolfgang Puck. As an attendee, you’ll be invited to perform karaoke in the Clive Davis Theater and participate in a silent auction featuring travel packages and fashion items. A VIP ticket grants entry to a private lounge and early access to the exhibits, which will include retrospectives on Luther Vandross and Michael Jackson.

The Benefit is a chance to make new memories with friends and colleagues and show your support for the APA Foundation’s flagship public awareness campaign, Mental Health Care Works. This multiyear, multimedia campaign launched at the 2023 Annual Meeting and since then has received more than 500 million impressions.

Mental Health Care Works aims to educate the average American and increase literacy on best practices for mental wellness. The website (mentalhealthcareworks.org) provides guidance for people to use in starting a conversation about mental health care with their primary care provider, identifying signs of a potential mental health concern, and supporting a loved one going through a mental health crisis. The campaign employs personas with mental health conditions to connect to audience members who may not recognize that they are experiencing symptoms of a potential mental health concern. For example, Robert thought that drinking was just a part of his social life, until he started neglecting his family; watch his story on the campaign website to learn more.

When you attend the APA Foundation Benefit, you support increased access to mental health care for under-resourced groups, many of whom may associate seeking care with fear and shame. Help us break down the barriers to equitable mental wellness by supporting not only Mental Health Care Works but also Foundation grants and awards programs that connect minoritized groups to needed resources.

“Our colleagues in psychiatry work long hours to care for patients and nurture progress in the field, and the Foundation benefit is a well-deserved opportunity to support a good cause and have some fun,” said Petros Levounis, M.D., M.A., former president of APA and ex officio APA Foundation board member. “I look forward to attending the benefit every year. Each one is a chance to make new connections and strengthen old friendships while dancing the night away.”
