WPA to Hold World Congress in Mexico City in September
The World Psychiatric Association (WPA) will hold its next World Congress of Psychiatry in Mexico City from September 27 to 30. Topics include how psychiatry can impact some of the most important social challenges facing communities across the globe: emigration, suicide, violence, new addictions, poverty, discrimination, toxic environments, and the pressures that come with navigating a world of gender diversity and sexuality. Now, more than ever, it is essential for the psychiatric community to stand firm for mental health.
Presenters will also consider how new techniques in neuroscience, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, epigenetics, and digital psychiatry can be used practically to support people affected by mental illness, their families and friends, community groups, scientific researchers, and all mental health professionals.
Mexico is a colorful country full of contrasts, rich in culture, traditions, and food; together with its diverse ethnicity, it offers a mosaic of beauty and interest. Visitors to Mexico will quickly learn that within this cultural diversity, one important trait is common to all: the kindness of the Mexican people and their eagerness to share their country's beauty with all from around the world.
